What is the YDS exam?

The YDS exam is organized by the ÖSYM Student Choice and Settlement Center, by decision of the Turkish Higher Education Foundation YÖK issued on 04/07/2013, an examination dedicated to stabilizing the level of foreign language in a student who wishes to pursue postgraduate studies in Turkish universities, and requires the choice of a language other than the mother tongue in which she speaks, and to obtain a degree of at least 55%.

This examination is held three times a year, once in the first semester; the following languages include English, German, Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Danish, Armenian, Persian, French, Georgian, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Hungarian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian and Ukrainian.

How do I take the YDS exam?

The YDS exam is held in all Turkish states, and candidates wishing to register for the YDS exam can follow the application dates and register online, through the ÖSYM page, and then pay the exam fee of TL 120, through the ÖSYM page at the following link: odeme.osym.gov.tr, by credit card or by hand at ATMs.

What is the YDS exam?

The YDS test consists of 80 questions on the automation system (multi-choice), 150 minutes, and the questions are written in the language chosen upon application, where the questions are general, including walks of life in all its arts, art, literature, history, sports, music, space and public culture.

The distribution of questions shall be as follows: 6 questions for the definition of words, 10 questions related to the rules, 10 questions in filling out language gaps, 10 questions for the continuation of sentences, 3 questions translated from foreign language into Turkish, 3 questions for translation from Turkish to foreign language, 4 questions relating to the sequel of sections in the text, 5 questions for finding the contrary meaning of the meaning of the text, 5 questions for the order of sentences in the text, 5 questions to reach the choice of the idea closest to the meaning of the text, 20 questions for the meaning of the text, 5 questions for the order of sentences in the text, 5 questions to reach the choice of the closest idea of the meaning of the text, 20 questions for the meaning of the text. YDS exam results assessment

The YDS exam is evaluated from 100 marks, each question has 1.25 degrees, and it should be noted that every 4 wrong answers are deleted with a correct answer, and the levels are set according to the degree obtained by the student, and are as follows:

  • Level A: 90 to 100 degrees
  • Level B: 80 to 89 degrees
  • Level C: 70 to 79 degrees
  • Level D: 60 to 69 degrees
  • E-level: 50 to 59 degrees

Students' admission to graduate studies varies according to grades and levels determined by each university, and the certificate is valid for 5 years from the time it is issued.
